What is makhana?
Makhana, also called fox nut or lotus seed, is the popped seed of the Euryale ferox water lily. It is harvested by hand from wetland ponds, mainly in the Mithila region of Bihar, then sun-cured and popped into a light, crunchy snack.
What does 4 suta, 5 suta and 6+ suta mean?
Suta is the traditional unit used in the North Bihar makhana trade to grade popped fox nuts by diameter. A higher number means a bigger kernel: 4 suta is roughly 12–14 mm, 5 suta roughly 15–18 mm and 6+ suta is 19 mm and above.
Which flavours of makhana does Crunchira make?

What is the minimum order quantity for bulk makhana?
Trial commercial orders start at 50 kg for 4 suta raw makhana and 100 kg for 5 suta and 6+ suta. Freight and export orders typically start at 500 kg to 1 metric tonne. Flavoured makhana can be ordered by the case for retail stores.
